How many colors are available for Harness Plug terminals? The relationship between color and specifications

"Terminal color" has different meanings in different scenarios. The most common one is the color of the insulated terminal (with red/blue/yellow insulation sleeve) to distinguish the wire gauge range, but there are also some connectors/Wiring Harness that use color internally for assembly identification. Please note: color is not a unified standard across the industry, and ultimately depends on the model and specifications.

1. Meanings of common colors of insulated terminals (examples)

Many insulated terminals use color to distinguish the applicable wire gauge range. For example, red corresponds to smaller wire gauges, blue corresponds to medium wire gauges, and yellow corresponds to larger wire gauges (different brands may have slight differences).

2. Why can't you just look at the color?

1) Brand differences: The same color does not necessarily mean the same specifications; 2) Application differences: Terminals with the same specifications may have different coatings/materials; 3) Process differences: The crimping mold and the terminal structure must match, and the color cannot reflect the details of the crimping structure.

3. Correct identification and selection methods

Prioritize selection based on terminal material number/model; check wire gauge, rated current, temperature level and plugging and unplugging requirements; use tension/crimping height after crimping to verify process stability; for waterproof connectors, also confirm whether the seals match.

Conclusion

Color can be used as "auxiliary information" for quick on-site identification, but it cannot replace specifications.Model selection and processing must go back to the three things of "model, wire gauge, and process verification".
