How many types of Harness Plug terminals are there?Common types and selection points

Terminals and connectors are key parts of Wiring Harness, which directly determine contact reliability and assembly efficiency. The so-called "several types of plug terminals" can usually be understood from three perspectives: structure, purpose and sealing level.

1. Classification by crimping structure

1) Open Barrel: commonly used in Automotive Wiring Harness, suitable for automated crimping; 2) Closed Barrel: more complete coverage of conductors, suitable for some high-reliability scenarios; 3) welding terminals: used for special interfaces or space-limited scenarios.

2. Classification by use/form

Common ones include: pin/socket terminals (matching connector housing), ring terminals (grounding/bolt connection), fork terminals, blade terminals (insert blades), bullet terminals, etc.

3. Classification by sealing level

Can be divided into non-waterproof and waterproof terminals/connectors.The waterproof structure usually includes sealing rings, rubber plugs, terminal anti-removal and secondary locks, etc. It is very important to assemble them in place.

4. It is recommended to confirm the key points when selecting the model.

1) Wire gauge matching: terminal specifications match conductor cross-sectional area; 2) current capacity and temperature rise; 3) insertion and extraction force and locking structure; 4) environmental requirements: temperature resistance, oil resistance, salt spray resistance; 5) processing method: manual/semi-automatic/fully automatic crimping.

5. The "bottom line" of crimping quality

No matter how the terminal type changes, crimping height, tension and cross-sectional shape are the core quality indicators. It is recommended that the first article and new batches must be verified, and regular inspections are carried out during mass production.
